Ask Yourself:
- Are you happy in your job?
- What do you enjoy most at work?
- What do you not enjoy?
- Are you being challenged?
- Are you bottling things up?
- Where would you go if you could pick any job to start next week?
- How long have you been in your job for?
Take Time To Think.
Also consider how long you’ve been in your current company and what you want to do next. If you’ve only been with the company for a few months or so then you might want to consider sticking it out for a bit longer – you need to think about what it looks like on your CV.
If you’ve lost the passion at work you’re probably showing it, even if you don’t mean to. You’re probably more negative and a wee bit unenthusiastic – you’ve lost your mojo – but only you can address the issue.
Assess The Current Situation.
Put together a list of the issues you’re currently encountering at work and see if there’s anything you can fix. You could then seek out your boss or manager for assistance and communicate what you’re wanting from the role. One of the most common issues is a lack of challenge. Perhaps you’re ready to move up to the next level and take on more responsibility – you could ask your boss what else you can do to push yourself out of your comfort zone and then give it some time to see if they listen and take action to help you reach your goals.
Give It Time.
If you give it a month or so and nothing’s changed and you truly think you’ve tried your hardest to make it work, then you could consider a shift. You do want to give this time to figure out if you’re in the right job or if it’s time to move, rather than launching into something.
Be Helpful.
Once you hand in your notice you can help your company find a replacement and offer to train that person and bring them up to speed – that way you’re showing that loyalty! I think it’s always best to keep things on a good note – they’ll respect you for it too.
